Fairground fantastic @ 01:00

Big thank you to all of those who came and made Gilwell24 such a great weekend! I think the weather smiled upon us too, which is always good!

Where to start when describing the weekend? Should we start with malfunctioning printers, missing items, long queues in the petrol station, insane downpours of rain on the motorway? No, we'll forget that!

I think there is too much to rave on about, so i'm going for a list!

  • A great opportunity to 'meet' new people from other groups. I don't think you have to get to know them *that* well though!
  • The phenomenon of miltant hugging groups patroling the site (run for your lives!)
  • Staying up all night, on the wrong night
  • Chef Simone and his friday night meat fest
  • Waterbomb artillery bombaredments
  • Insane north kent 'come on then' explorers, putting the stress on the wrong word in the phrase 'water fight'
  • Helping a group from Lincolnshire erase a tent from thier camp site. Wonder if them being 3 girls had anything to do with how enthusiastically the boys helped? We probably shouldn't have suggested the 'I owe you 1 tent' note.
  • Fat Face mountain board display team, giving away free posters.. Where were the t-shirts?
  • Amazing, brand new tents
  • Oh and I nearly forget.. Loads and loads of activities too! Note: If you can get Iain on a waltzer and do your best to spin as much as possible! Stand well back afterwards.

The photo gallery for the weekend is growing, please submit your photos/videos by email and we'll get them up on the site!

100 years ago today, Captain Scott and his team reached the South Pole. As everyone knows, they were beaten to the prize by a mere five weeks by the Norwegian Roald Amundsen and perished on the return journey. Scott (centre)...
