What do we do?

Fancy being a polar explorer, anyone? I'm sure we know who to ask for advice!

Avery explorers is all about getting out there, having a go and pushing yourself. We are constantly on the look out for new challenges and ways to find adventure. However, we don't just do what our leaders want to do. Our programme is as much in the hands of our members. If there is something you want to do, the chances are there will be a way to do it with us! (As long you don't want to do paintball....)

Some of the things we have done:

  • Rock climbing both indoors and out.
  • Survival camping
  • Kayaking
  • Ultimate frisbee
  • Moutain biking
  • The 'sussex overland'
  • Camped in the middle of winter
  • Power kiting
  • River canoeing at night

Some of the things we have learnt:

  • how to build a watch tower and how to bridge a river
  • how to navigate at night
  • how to skin and cook a rabbit
  • how to cure an animal hide
  • how to build a fire that will safely keep you warm all night
  • how to be beaten by another group with a much bigger waterbomb catapult….
