NEWSFLASH - Ultimate resurrected!

25 Jul 2008

Just a quick 'blog' to let everyone know what is going on!

We have rearranged tomorrow's event to take place in Ticehurst instead of Mayfield, as it appears potential numbers from other units were going to be low (they must be running scared!).

Ultimate in the park will go ahead but will only be an Avery Explorers event.

See you tomorrow!

Pioneering Links

18 Jul 2008

We have found some links to some great websites dedicated to pioneering.

Looks like it is time to schedule another weekend pioneering event! We'll get the equipment sorted this time, so that we don't run out of rope!

I think it is time to start practicing those lashings! Check out the links page to get to these sites.

See you later!

Gilwell24 or was it 48?

17 Jul 2008

Fairground fantastic @ 01:00

Big thank you to all of those who came and made Gilwell24 such a great weekend! I think the weather smiled upon us too, which is always good!

Where to start when describing the weekend? Should we start with malfunctioning printers, missing items, long queues in the petrol station, insane downpours of rain on the motorway? No, we'll forget that!

I think there is too much to rave on about, so i'm going for a list!

  • A great opportunity to 'meet' new people from other groups. I don't think you have to get to know them *that* well though!
  • The phenomenon of miltant hugging groups patroling the site (run for your lives!)
  • Staying up all night, on the wrong night
  • Chef Simone and his friday night meat fest
  • Waterbomb artillery bombaredments
  • Insane north kent 'come on then' explorers, putting the stress on the wrong word in the phrase 'water fight'
  • Helping a group from Lincolnshire erase a tent from thier camp site. Wonder if them being 3 girls had anything to do with how enthusiastically the boys helped? We probably shouldn't have suggested the 'I owe you 1 tent' note.
  • Fat Face mountain board display team, giving away free posters.. Where were the t-shirts?
  • Amazing, brand new tents
  • Oh and I nearly forget.. Loads and loads of activities too! Note: If you can get Iain on a waltzer and do your best to spin as much as possible! Stand well back afterwards.

The photo gallery for the weekend is growing, please submit your photos/videos by email and we'll get them up on the site!

Can you find your 'Mad Cow' mobile phone holder? If not, want to know where it is?

Ransom: £1,000,000,000.00 to be supplied in non-sequential un-marked bills.. Place it in a brown envelope and place it underneath the oak tree...

Alternatively, email Rob and let him know it is yours!

Beach Party!

11 Jul 2008

Hello!

Like Glastonbury, most years, we managed to still have a great night out despite the weather ruining just about every activity we wanted to try!

  • BBQ? - Not in that weather
  • Swimming? - Sea too rough for our life guard cover
  • Frisbee? - Too windy
  • Power kites? - Again too much wind for Rob's big kite to be safe and his small one was broken
  • Paddling? - Only a certain lad from Tullis (who'd brought his dry suit!) braved the waters..
  • Sun bathing? - We wish

However, in true British fashion, we made the best of it! The rain abated and we spent an hour or so mucking about on the beach before a quick visit to the arcade on the pier. Cap it all of with fish and chips from the paper and our own personal fireworks display (well maybe it wasn't just for us) and it wasn't all bad!

See you on at the weekend for our trip to Gilwell!
